English Abstract

This study aimed to find out the extent of application of Decentralization in the public construction sector in Jordan, represented by the engineers employed in the ministries concerned with the public construction projects, and its impact on decision making process,.

To achieve the objectives of the study a questionnaire was developed to collect and distribute data to the members of the study society (2000) engineer.

The questionnaires suitable for analysis were (330) questionnaire.

Statistical package for Social Science (SPSS.21) was used to analyze the data.

The most important results the study came up with were: 1- The employees of the public construction sector perceive a moderate application of decentralization, where Accountability came in the first rank followed by the Assigning Responsibility and in the third place came the Delegation of Authority. 2- There is a significant difference at the level of significance of (≤0.05) of Decentralization elements on Decision making process. 3- There is an important role of decentralization in accelerating the decision- making process and improving the performance of the employees. The study recommended to: 1- Increase the level of application of Decentralization in the public construction sector in Jordan. 2- Conduct more studies about the other organizational factors affects the decentralization application in the same sector
