English Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of using flipped learning on ninth graders' achievement in grammar in Al-Qaser Directorate of Education, during the first semester 2015/2016. The sample of the study consisted of 50 female 9th graders who were randomly selected from Faqu' secondary school for girls and Emra' secondary school for girls. The sample of the study was divided into two groups: the experimental group (27 female students) which was taught using flipped learning strategy, and the control group (23 female students) which was taught using the conventional method. The researcher used a YouTube video and constructed a pre/post-test where reliability and validity were ensured. The result indicated that there were statistical significant differences at (α ≤ 0.05) in 9th grade students' achievement in English grammar attributed to the method of teaching in favor of using flipped learning. In light of the findings of the study, the researcher suggested a group of recommendations among which are the following: The need to embrace the flipped learning strategy in the educational process in the Jordanian educational institutions.

The need to conduct workshops to analyze and identify curriculum units that can be used according to the flipped learning strategy.
