Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of parents’ involvement in their children reading in the development of speaking and critical reading among sixth grade female students in Jordan.To achieve this, the researcher developed a test in speaking and another in critical reading.The participants of this study consisted of (46) female students from the sixth grade chosen purposefully from two public schools girls in Ajloun First Educational Directorate, the control group from Eben-Ebleen School totaling (23) students and the experimental group from Sakhra Comprehensive School for Girls totaling (23) students.The experimental group studied through the strategy of parents’ involvement while, the control group studied through the traditional method described in the teachers’ guide.The findings of the study showed that there are significant statistical differences at the level of (a =0.05) attributed to the teaching method in voice tunes, spelling, accuracy and evaluation in favor of the experimental group, and there were no differences in expression fluency.Moreover, there are significant statistical differences at the level of (a =0.05) attributed to the teaching method in all sub skills except the goals of the writer in favor of the experimental group.Based on the findings the researcher presented several recommendations
