Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to examin the relationship between parents styles (authoritarian, authoritative and permissive), and adolescents' conduct problems in a sample of 633 adolescents randomly selected from grade level one, two and three secondary school.

They completed a battery of Sociodemographic questionnaire, the Arabic version of parental authority questionnaire made by Marwan Dwairy, (2004) and the strengths and difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) of Goodman, (1997), Results showed that there is a relationship between parents’ styles and adolescents’ conduct problems and both of authoritarian and permissive parenting style were vividly correlated to conduct problems.

The negative effect of authoritarian or permissive parenting styles are reduced when parents have a positive relationship with their adolescent.
