English Abstract

This study mainly focuses on evaluating the transformational and transactional leadership styles in construction professional in Gaza.

Avolio 1992, has been used to evaluate and find correlations among transformational leadership and transactional leadership factors with outcome variables.

The main objectives of this study was to examine the extent of leaders who are perceived to use transformational and transactional leadership styles and to find out which of the two leadership styles including their factors is best to predict better outcome.

The sample was professional construction employees including site engineers, head of departments, executive managers and owners throughout Gaza strip construction firms.

The results show that all transformational and transactional leadership factors are correlated to each others and correlated to leadership outcomes, but in variety.

It was clear that transformational leadership behaviors are more prominent than transactional leadership behaviors.

It is also clear that inspirational motivation leadership factor is the most popular and predict best outcome while management by exception has the lowest.

More inspirational motivation in form of consistent encouragement, more intellectual stimulation in the form of sharing and facilitating discussions and more individualized consideration in form of personal caring, coaching for individual needs are needed.
