The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between levels of social anxiety and self-concept among secondary school students in Gaddarif city.
To achieve the above objective the researcher used descriptive method.
A sample of (240) students, (120) males, (120) females,were chosen randomly.
The tools of data collection consist of theSocial Anxiety scale written by Samer Radwan Jamil (2001),and Self-concept Scalechildren and adolescents written by Piers & Harris (1964).
The data were analyzed by applying the statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), applying the following tests:Cronbach's alpha and Spearman Brown formula, Chi square test, Person Correlation Coefficient.The most important results of the study are as follows : The students' social anxiety levels in all dimensions is statistically below average.
There is a significant negative correlation between levels of social anxiety with age of secondary students of Gaddarif city.
There is a significant negative correlation between levels of social anxiety with the total degree of self-concept of secondary students of Gaddarif city.
Finally, recommendations and suggestions for further studies, and references were cited at the end of the study.
Themost important recommendation of the study is to Satisfy the psychological and social needs of adolescents, Such as the Safety needs, love, self-esteem, affiliation, success, freedom, peering responsibility, and self-actualisation, and self-assertion.
