The role of university staff members in developing and qualifiying students and assisting the university in achieving its prospective aims, objectives and plans can never be overlooked.
The facluty member is the leader of the educational process who plays a major role in shaping students personalities.
Such an influential role depends, intensly, on the degree of ethical leadership practices implemented inside and outside classrooms.
The study, therefore, aims to determine the extent to which ethical leadership with its five dimensions are practised by faculties at the University of Umm Al-Qura.
It seeks also to identify the statistically significant differences between students’ estimations of the variation between practice and impact, which may be attributed to variables of gender, specialty, or the level of study.
The study also aims to find out if there is a correlation between ethical leadership practices and their impact on students.
This study adopts the descriptive analytical method.
A questionnaire has been developed and applied on some 900 students.
Results show that ethical leadership is moderately implemented by faculty members and the impact on students turned out to be moderate as well.
This, in fact, reflects a statistical significance for some variables icnluding both the practice and the impact.
Significant positive correlations are also found between the practices of ethical leadership, their impact on students, and the predictability of such impact.
Therefore, the study recommends that periodic evaluation of professors’ ethical leadership practices should be conducted, given its influential and crucial role in setting out the strategic approaches of the university.
