This paper dwells on geography of places and sites in natural Syria.
To this end, the researcher shed light on poetry composed to describe Bilad Esham during the Umayyad era.
The researcher has tried to give a clear picture of Esham through documentation of verse which had highlighted geography of the place in Umayyad poetry in all its dimensions and significance.
Greater Syria abounds with its beautiful nature which Allah has blessed it with.
It has a vast desert, gardens, rivers, mountains and plains.
This is in addition to other features and natural phenomena which had drawn the attention of poets and inspired them to produce lyrics describing its beauty.
In his study of this poetry, the researcher used the descriptive method.
He inductively representative samples of this poetry in which poets described the places and sites and highlighted the significant implications of Greater Syria in terms of its role, status and importance in all aspects of life
