The linguistics is known as the scientific study of human language, whereas didactics is defined as the practice of teaching methods, whose aim is to make the learner acquire language skills.
In this work, we try to clarify the relationship between linguistics and didactics by presenting a brief description of the most important trends in modern linguistics and its contribution to the progress of language teaching and learning, and how to exploit the results linguistic theories to contribute in solving some language learning problems
