Abstract EN

This study examines the use of Paradox in Jamal Abi Hamdan's literary collection: "Searching for Zizia," and presents various scholarly views on Paradox and its importance in poetry and narration.

It also presents the different types of paradox used by the author to express his perspective on reality challenging the notion of "expectation" and aiming to surprise the recipient in order to create an awareness that overcomes the familiar and prevalent in reality.

Verbal paradox was the most important type used by Abi Hamdan, followed by the use of intertextuality and paradox of situation, event, personality, and the paradox of romance.

The writer also used paradox in his title in addition to the paradox between the beginning and ending of his work.

Paradox was also used in combination with poetic and marvelous narration, constructing his work with language filled with ironies and amazing contrasts
