Abstract EN

his study investigates the attitudes of Libyan secondary school teachers and students towards using Arabie language in EFL classroom.

It aims at identifying the rôle of Arabie in leaming English language, and finding out the attitudes of Libyan teachers and students towards applying Arabie in EFL classroom.

The study uses both the qualitative and quantitative approaches as main methods, and the questionnaire for secondary school students and the interview for the secondary school teachers were used as tools for gathering information.

The study cornes out with many results which can be summarized in: Libyan secondary school students use Arabie in English language classes, the excessive use of Arabie may hinder leaming English language, similar to the teachers’ attitudes, the students' attitudes towards using Arabie in classroom were generally positive, and teachers usually use Arabie to clarify
