Study is intended to identify the role of academic curricula in raising security awareness among secondary school students ; examine the requirements for revitalizing this role and probe the differences in study sample's responses regarding such role according to '' academic qualification'', '' specialization'' and '' years of experience areas.
descriptive, survey method was used and a questionnaire was administered to a sample of (159) secondary school teachers in eastern Riyadh city.
findings have shown that academic curricula get students fully aquatinted with security challenges facing KSA, and that they help students shun extremist ideology.
impediments to security awareness according to findings were the absence of a school plan for the implementation of security awareness topics; the inadequate time dedicated to implementation of such topics and failure of curricula to fully catch up with security challenges.
no statistically significant differences were found in the average responses of study sample to the survey question on their opinions regarding “role of academic curricula in raising security awareness among secondary school students according to the variables: academic qualification, specialization and years of experience”
