The study focused on the problem of food dependence, as one of the problems facing the developing countries in general and the Republic of Yemen in particular, and that the degree of suffering varied from one country to another.

The problem of the study was the food dependency which lies in the concentration of food sources in a few advanced countries in light of the deterioration of food production in Yemen, And the continued dependence on external sources in the provision of food needs and increasing from year to another has become a financial burden that drains part of the country's wealth, and consumes a lot of money and loans allocated for economic development.

The study aimed to analyzing the indicators of dependency of food on others, analyzing the percentage of payments on food imports from the Yemeni export earnings, analyzing the indicators of the food gap and self-sufficiency in Yemen, and explaining the reasons that led to the food dependence and the effects thereof.

The study concluded that the Republic of Y emen is located during the period of analysis in the food dependency area for all food commodities.

The danger lies in the semi-complete dependence on the outside which leads to negative effects on trade and balance of payments advantages.

Imports have eaten up from the expected and unforeseen export revenues, while the Republic of Y emen has achieved self-sufficiency in fisheries throughout the analysis period.

The food gap has increased from the wheat crop and there has been an increasing trend in recent years to meet the needs of food consumption, which refers to the increased food dependency of the outside world.The researcher recommends intensifying the efforts of agricultural scientific research to increase food productivity, increasing the volume of government investments to the agricultural sector in order to achieve optimal efficiency, increasing food production growth rates and reducing the growing food gap and using arable land that allows the use of modern technological means to increase productiv.
