This paper investigates English as a lingua franca and intercultural awareness, as two relatively new concepts in the field of applied linguistics.

The main goal of the study is to raise English language teachers‟ professional awareness and explore potential practical classroom insights and implications congruent with developing their English language teaching pedagogy and learners‟ effective intercultural communication competence.
