Abstract EN

The Arab scientists were known by their interest in different fields of various sciences.

An Arabic linguist was a scientific encyclopedia in different sciences; the linguist was not limited to his language, the reader was not limited to his readings, a jurist was not limited to his jurisprudence, a physician was not limited to his medicine, however, most scientists brought together various sciences.

Al-Khalil ibn Ahmed Al-Farahidi (Died in AH 175), is one of the pioneers who were popular in their age.

He was conversant and proficient not only on prosody, grammar, morphology but also on medicine, astronomy, and agriculture.

This was crystal clear in his linguistics book (Al-Aeen Book).

In this study, the researcher focused on Al-Khalil’s interest in medical terminologies.

The significance of this study lies in the fact that although Al-Aeen book is a lexical linguistic book but it contains many scientific terminologies.

It has been rumored that some of those terminologies were discovered by western scientists.

However, Al-khalil had confirmed antecedence for Arabic linguists.

This was obvious through the collections he got from his antecedents and from Arabs of desert and that was affirmed in his Al-Aeen book.

The idea of this study came to clarify the Arabs role in rooting scientific terminologies.

This research has been divided into three sections following a preamble and an introduction.

The first section is entitled, “The medical terminologies of human body”.

The second section entitled, “The medical terminologies related to diseases”.

While the third section is entitled, “The medical terminologies related to drugs”.

Finally, the study concluded with the most important results in addition to a list of resources and references.
