English Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effects of Work-Based Learning approach in enhancing employment for TVET Graduates from the perception of the TVET providers and the employers at the Gaza Strip.

The study examined the Work-based Learning methodology through several variables, which are: Resources, Skills and Knowledge, Curriculums ,TVET programs, Practices and Processes, Quality Standards, Employers Satisfaction, and Governmental Support.

In order to obtain the objectives of this research, the researcher used the descriptive and analytical approach.

Two questionnaires were distributed, one designed to target the TVET providers, the other one designed to target the Employers at the private sector.

A Comprehensive inventory method was applied on the study community, which is all the TVET providers and Employers who applied the WBL methodology, consisting of 80 persons working in TVET institutions and 100 persons as private sector operators with a total of 180.

70 questionnaire were collected out of 80, and 67 were collected out of the 100.

The study findings showed that the independent variables: Resources, Skills and Knowledge, Curriculums, Practices and Processes, TVET programs, Quality Standards, Employers Satisfaction, and Governmental Support are important factors to be considered within the TVET education.

The results revealed that WBL methodology is an approach commensurate with the real needs of the Palestinian labor market, it also show the extent of involvement of Employers at the TVET system, the sharing of the available resources, the curriculums and TVET programs development process, and the importance of collaboration between all parties to improve and enhance the skills and performance of trainees in line with the needs of the labor market, which enhances their access to employment in the labor market.

The results also showed the importance of developing specialized committees to develop, monitor, and follow up with quality standards which help to follow up the problems and dilemmas facing the TVET education and solve them.

It also showed the satisfaction of the employers about WBL methodology in terms of its outputs that are commensurate with their real needs in the labor market with a dissatisfaction with the role of the government in funding and supporting this methodology and providing facilities for the donors supporting this methodology.

Based on the results, the study recommended that more efforts should be made in developing curricula and TVET programs that correspond to the real needs of the labor market through increasing the involvement of employers and private sector umbrellas in this process, and recommended the establishment of follow-up and evaluation committees for the standards applied in this methodology.

It recommend to use the available resources at both the TVET institutions and the workplace in an integrative manner to ensure the quality of the outputs of the methodology.

The research also recommended the importance of increasing the support provided by the government to this methodology and provide facilities for the supporters of the application of this methodology -
