Abstract EN

The study aims at identifying the role of the Palestinian social upbringing institutions in reinforcing the " Right of Return " from the Gaza university students’ perspectives.

The sample of the study consisted of 477 male and female students who constituted (4.

8%) of the 4th levels in the Palestinian universities in Gaza.

The study tools consisted of the following: 1) A test made up of thirty questions about some basic information on Palestine and the " Right of Return " in order to evaluate the Palestinian university students' knowledge on this issue.

2) A three-dimensional survey consisted of the following General information, 15-items for measuring the role of upbringing institutions in reinforcing the " Right of Return ", and a question on giving suggestions to improve the roles of these institutions.

The mains results of study showed: · 67.1% of the students got 50% on the test.

· No significant differences at 0.05 level were observed for the total score with regard to the variables of gender, place of residence, type of the family.

· There are statistical differences among the averages for test scores regarding gender and type of family, favoring male students in extended families.

· The students' suggestions for the roles of social institutions focused on inspiring Palestinians with the optimism of returning to their homeland Palestine" and to seek the opportunities to further reinforce the " Right of Return" in all national and religious occasions”.

The study recommended that the Palestinian upbringing institutions (family, school, mosques, media…etc) should reinforce the "Right to Return" culture and to provide the Palestinian community with the historical and geographical information they should know about Palestine and the Palestinian Cause.
