Abstract EN

The aim of the study was to identify the Level of conceptual knowledge necessary for teaching mathematics in basic stage among pre-service teachers at Islamic University of Gaza, and to identify the differences in these knowledge according to sex variable.

The quantitative and qualitative descriptive method was used, and a test was developed in accordance with one of the mathematical knowledge for Teaching measuers ( MKT ) which was developed at the university of michigan, as well as the individual oral interview tool.

The sample of the study consisted of (181) pre-service teachers were randomly choasen from the students of Basic Education Department at the Islamic University of Gaza.

The results indicated that level of conceptual knowledge of student teachers was (34.66%) which was very low when compared with the critera that used in the study, and there were no statistically significant differences between the score averages of the student teachers according to sex variable.
