Abstract EN

The present study aimed at exploring the level of school engagement and emotional intelligence among a sample of high school education, and to test for significant differences in school engagement due to emotional intelligence, gender and branch of high school education.

To achieve the objectives of the study, The researcher used the descriptive approach for suitability to the nature of the study, a sample of (429) students were chosen randomly from Al-Ahsa high school district.

Also, Tarbeh (2016) scale of school engagement and Authman and Riziq (2001) scale of emotional intelligence were used after testing their validity and reliability.

Results showed an average level of school engagement and an average level of total emotional intelligence and all its domains except empathy, which was high.

Results showed also that there were significant differences in school engagement total and all domains scores due to emotional intelligence and gender in favor of students with high emotional intelligence scores and females.

Also, significant differences were found in school engagement total scores and the cognitive domain scores only due to branch of high school education and in favor of students who were in the courses system.

The study recommended using different teaching methods of both classroom and outdoor activities.

This would enhance the opportunities of school engagement as well as emotional intelligence among students
