The representation of social actors in domestic violence in Arab news reports : critical discourse analysis

Domestic violence is one of the most dangerous problems.

that may cause the breaking of families and then societies since family is the core stone of society.

the critical study is to investigate the representation of domestic violence in Emirati media based on van leeuwen model (2008), "the representation of social actors." the data which is being analysed is collected and selected from Emirati media, in particular two important newspapers, the National and GulfNews.

in addition, the data is analysed qualitatively.

the aim of the study is to identify how the social actors of domestic violence are represented in Emirati media and which linguistic tool of the van leeuwen model reveals the ideology of selected samples.
