The study aimed to reveal the level of availability of the visual thinking skills of the textbook of social studies for the eighth grade in the Gaza Strip / Palestine.
Where the study population represented in the textbook of social studies for the eighth grade, during the in the scholastic year (2018/2019).
The sample of the study was all the visual forms in the textbook (the first and second terms), including (color images, geographic maps of various types, forms, conceptual charts, graphs, tables,..) which amounted to (86) visual form , To achieve the goals of the study, the researcher designed tool of list of visual thinking skills Which should be included in the eighth grade social studies textbook, and then converted to the content analysis card, The validity of the analysis card was verified by the sincerity of the arbitrators ,and their consistency in calculating the coefficient of agreement using Holsti equation.
The required statistical treatments were performed using frequencies, percentages and arithmetic averages, The results of the study showed the interest of the book of social studies for the eighth grade basic to include the skills of visual thinking in general, but those skills varied by the inclusion, Where the skill of information analysis ensured at high levels, but the skill of meaning-meanings, the skills of visual reading, visual discrimination, spatial perception, interpretation of information have been guaranteed at a low level, The study concluded with a number of related research recommendations and proposals, reviewing the weaknesses of visual thinking skills in the social studies textbook for the eighth grade, and strengthening the strong points.
