فاعلية استخدام منحى (STEM)‎ في تنمية مهارات حل المسألة الرياضية لدى طالبات الصف العاشر الأساسي في الأردن

Abstract EN

This study aimed at designing a learning unit in mathematics based on STEM approach and identifying its impact on developing mathematical problem solving skills among tenth grade female students.

The researcher followed the quasi experimental design methodology in the study.

To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher designed a learning unit in mathematics based on the STEM approach.

The learning unit consisted of four learning topics relating to the "Circle".

The researcher also prepared an achievement test in mathematics.

An available sample consisting of 53 tenth grade female students was selected.

The sample was divided into two groups; An experimental group consisting of 27 students which was taught the learning unit designed based on STEM and a control group consisting of 26 students which was taught the mathematical unit traditionally.

The achievement test was administered to students before and after the experiment.

The results revealed that there were significant statistical differences in the average scores of the experimental group and the control group on the post test in favor of the experimental group.

The researcher recommended the adoption of the process of designing the learning unit in mathematics in accordance with STEM approach and training teachers on how to design learning units in mathematics accordingly
