Abstract EN

The study aims to shed light on the role and importance of critical thinking in improving the quality of thinking and information processing among students.

The study relied on the historical method to review the history of critical thinking and its uses, and the analytical method through a survey collection of studies that dealt with critical thinking and then scientifically analyzed.

Among the results of the study: that critical thinking is a skill acquired through learning that contributes to raising the quality of thinking, reasoning, and cognitive ability of students in all areas of life.

The study recommends the need to include the subject (critical thinking) as a general requirement in universities to protect generations from negative reception with the amount of information flow in the era of rapid access to information from multiple sources.
