Abstract EN

The current study aimed to build a test of reading comprehension levels for fourth-year pupils and to verify its psychometric properties mainly, validity and reliability.

The research sample consisted of (34) male and female pupils at Abdel Hamid Ibn Badis primary school in Sétif.

This required preparing a list of reading comprehension levels.

The researchers designed a reading comprehension test and it was presented to reviewers specialized in educational sciences, methods of teaching Arabic, and psychometrics to check its psychometric properties (validity and reliability) and the appropriateness of the reading comprehension levels and skills suggested for fourth-year primary students.

The test consists of four levels of reading comprehension: literal comprehension, inferential comprehension, critical comprehension, and evaluative comprehension.

There are several skills under each level.

The results of the study showed that the difficulty coefficient ranged between (0.

Therefore, the test has psychometric properties.

The study recommends using the test to measure the reading comprehension levels of fourth-year primary students.
