Abstract EN

This paper was first presented in a study day abouî “Media Control: What Are V/e Heading for?” which the English PhD students of “Space and Culture" research team organized in April 2Cf'\ 201 Un Oujda.

Within the same year, I had the opportunity to présent it to the master students ofFahd Institute of Translation in Tangier on 16“' May.

The paper covers the issue of translation in media news production, with particular emphasis on international news.

So far, news translation lias been unexplored; and Media Studies lias been largely monolingual and ignorant of the translator’s intervention in news production (Bassnett 2006:1).

Accordingly, my paper argues that by submitting international news narratives to translation, they inevitably go through a process of domestication and refraniing.

As an invisible agent, the translator applies these stratégies to conform to the linguistic, cultural and ideological environment of the target readership and viewers.
