Abstract EN

This study aims at revealing the degree of effectiveness of extracurricular activities in secondary schools from the point of view of school teachers and its relationship to enhancing students' belonging.

The descriptive method was used.

The study sample which was chosen randomly consisted of (350) male and female teachers in the government secondary schools affiliated to the Directorate of Qasabat Irbid.

The researcher administrated a questionnaire of two parts; the first part consisted of (26) items to measure the effectiveness degree of extra-curricular activities, while the second part consisted of (30) items to measure the degree of belonging among students.

The study found that the effectiveness degree of extra-curricular activities in secondary schools by the objectives’ type was as follows; emotional, skills and finally cognitive objectives.

There were significant statistical differences in the degree of effectiveness of extracurricular activities according to experience and school size and there were no significant differences regarding the gender variable and the degree of students' belonging was high.

Further, there were significant statistical differences in determining the students belonging according to gender and school size and there were no significant differences regarding the experience variable.

Moreover, the study showed a statistically significant positive relationship between the degree of effectiveness of extracurricular activities and the degree of national belonging among students in secondary schools.
