Abstract EN

This study aimed at revealing the effect of gender, geographical environment, area of study, and year of study on students' attitudes towards reading at Al al-Bayt University–Jordan.

The researcher constructed a scale consisted of 48 items and distributed it to the sample of the study which consisted of 1217 participants who were selected by using the clustered random sampling technique.

The results of the study revealed that there was an effect of gender and it was in favor of female students regarding their attitudes towards reading.

Also, it was revealed that there were differences among the students in regard to their attitudes towards reading due to the geographical environment and these differences were in favor of city dwellers.

The results of the study also revealed that there were differences among the students in regard to their attitudes towards reading due to the area of study and these differences were in favor of the students of scientific faculties.

Finally, the results of the study revealed that there was no effect of the year of study on the students' attitudes towards reading.

The study concluded with a list of recommendations in relation to developing students' attitudes towards reading.
